@@spiritofseventysix1155 : Many thanks for this. Am happy to read that he is still active. I should have made myself more clear: I meant that he is sorely missed in Israel, by Israelis. Am grateful for the info about California!
@@quaver1239 As I mentioned, I was naive, and I looked up Zubin Mehta, so no apology necessary. 👌 I have family in Israel, I know what you say is true, he is our thoughts and hearts. Shalom From Slim Red Tex✌
הרבה מתיקות בקטעים המקושרים של קלרינט! וגם צבעים נפלאים על גוונים קלושים. משחק טוב ;) Lots of sweetness in the legato passages from the clarinetist! And also wonderful colors on the soft dynamics. Well done ;)
Thank you so much for this, my favorite of Mozart's concertos! It's always a treat to see Maestro Mehta conduct. He has such an elegant and graceful style, beautiful to watch.
How incredible--words fail to describe! This music restores my sould and peach of mind when all else fails! A friend says "Classical music is my drug of choice for stress!" I agre 100% Thank you for sharing this beautiful interpretation !
Mozart: qué más se puede decir? En cuanto a la Filarmónica Israel con su titular se han convertido en una de las pricipales del momento. Y el clarinetista es parte de la orquesta. Excelente
This Mozart is pretty simple for the orchestra. Musicians of their caliber could probably just sight read it. But, I’m sure they ran through it at least once in rehearsal. A beautiful performance! I felt Silka could have been a bit more dynamic in his playing, but that’s just me.
Beautiful clarinet playing! Some of the orchestra playing is a little rough. I'm curious to know what equipment Mr. Selka used. The clarinet doesn't look like an R13, bell, barrel. I don't recognize the ligature either. Whose the maker of the crystal mouthpiece?
Thank you Mr. Keller, On this recording I played Luis Rossi American model clarinet with a pomarico mouthpiece refaced by Ramon Wodkowski and praschos ligature. Today I play Buffet R13/Festival with Bonade ligature and same mouthpiece. Best wishes!
wow. It looks like he played III/311-313 across the break rather than dropping it down an octave (with a little tinkering). It is almost impossible to play it that way.
Slightly surprised to see Maestro Mehta using a score for this 25 minute piece when he conducts entire operas from memory. Not meant as criticism.... just saying.....doesnt prove anything either way.....
Zubin Mehta was already very old when this was performed and recorded. He no longer conducted entire operas. He is retired and far from well. Notice his slight limp when he entered? His age does explain why he was using the score. Your “just saying” needs some thought and knowledge, as well as less inclination to insult a wonderful person.
@@quaver1239 I am not at all clear as to how what I said is remotely insulting. In any case, wise guy, before saying things like " he no longer conducts entire operas" you should do some basic checking : operawire.com/teatro-alla-scala-to-stream-a-new-production-of-salome/ . Also, he has been having probems with his health for the last few years but has not announced his retirment. So much for " thought and knowledge ."
One day soon I hope, we shall be able to gather and hear such beautiful music live. Until then, we savor these posts.

It's not unusual to see conductors who usually conduct from memory use scores when conducting concertos.
